We all have our reasons for running! For most it probably is fitness and health, for some medals and glory ( Ha!) and for some, running is also a great way to maintain our ideal weight or loose a few pounds! 

Here are 5 tips to help you achieve our best running weight goal:

1. The pen is as mighty as the runners:

 a)    Keep a food diary on alternate weeks( Science has shown that people who keep track of their food intake loose more weight than those who don’t)

b)    Plan your meals and make a shopping list

c)     Make a list of trade offs: on one side of the page list the less healthy foods, on the other side list what you are willing to trade off for: ex: chips and dip for raw veggies with salsa

2. Stop GRAZING! We are not ruminants! Study shows that when we eat 3x a day( +1 snack) we are less hungry than when we eat all day long! 

3. The more color on your plate the less calories!~ Color= low cal   Browns and whites=higher calories 

4. Slow down when you eat: be MINDFUL, chew well, no distraction 

5. Negative emotions have a lot of calories! When you find yourself going back to the cupboard or fridge many times in the evening after a good dinner you may be using eating as a way to process a negative emotion that made its way into your day! You need to recognize the emotion and deal with it and choose another option besides food!
